Xiaomi India has launched its brand new Redmi Y1 and Y1 Lite today along with the MIUI 9 Global Stable ROM in a launch event. The stable MIUI 9 ROM will be rolled out to select Xiaomi devices like Xiaomi Redmi Note 4, Mi Mix 2 and the Mi Max 2 starting from early November. The company has also promised that the MIUI 9 Global Stable ROM will be rolled out to all devices by the end of November.
The final list of devices that Xiaomi has revealed would get the new MIUI 9 Global ROM update are Xiaomi Mi Note 3, Xiaomi Mi 6, Xiaomi Redmi Note 4X, Xiaomi Redmi Note 5A, Xiaomi Redmi 4, Xiaomi Redmi 4X, Xiaomi Redmi Y1, Xiaomi Redmi Y1 Lite. It may be noted that all of these devices have been launched by the company this year. The Chinese smartphone manufacturing company has also promised in the event that the entry-level Redmi phones such as Xiaomi Redmi 3, Xiaomi Redmi 3S, Xiaomi Redmi 3S Prime, and Redmi 2 Prime will also receive the MIUI 9 Global ROM update soon.
Xiaomi India also confirmed that the Mi 2 launched in the year 2012 and the Mi 3 launched in the year 2013 will also receive the update. The latest custom UI interface by Xiaomi, the MIUI 9 was released by the company in August this year along with the launch of Mi 5X. There are many improvements and new things added in the all new MIUI version like faster app load time, lock screen shortcuts, split screen feature and many more. The company has also claimed that the system has been optimised in order to enable fast app load and to boost performance.
The Lead Product Manager of Xiaomi, Jai Mani had previously said that the MIUI 9 version comes would come with features like touch feedback, CPU acceleration. Other minor improvements and addition in the new version includes new file system management, automatic cache cleaning and a boost in the Wi-Fi speed.
