Xiaomi Mi 7 Will Come With 3D Facial Recognition Instead of Under-Display Fingerprint Reader: Rumor

The recent confirmations by Synaptics have assured that it is working with Vivo to launch a smartphone with an under display placed fingerprint sensor the next year. And now some new leaks have hinted that the count for the number of devices in 2018 with an under display placed fingerprint scanner has increased. Standing out from the line, Xiaomi is working on 3D facial recognition feature on its future phones.

The feature is expected to be flaunted by the upcoming flagship of the company which is the Xiaomi Mi 7 smartpone. The feature may bear resemblance to the Face ID by Apple. Xiaomi is dedicatingly working with firms such as Qualcomm, Himax Technologies and Truly Opt-Electronics for ushering the production of 3D facial scanning technology in bulk by the first quarter of 2018. And once the feature is successfully sported by the Mi 7, Xiaomi has multiple further plans for its future devices.

Talking about some of the hinted features of the Mi 7 flagship, the Mi 7 and Mi 7 Plus are rumored to flaunt 5.65-inch and 6.01-inch screens with an aspect ratio of 18:9. It will be fueled with the brand new Snapdragon 845 chipset. Camera-wise, it is expected to flaunt AI driven dual rear cameras. If the rumours are to be believed, it is going to be the first Xiaomi phone with wireless charging technology.
