According to latest information, the State Bank of India (SBI) has declared on Tuesday that its debit card has been integrated with the Samsung Pay app, while its credit card users had already been using this platform since March 2017.
SBI debit cardholders can now pay just by using their Samsung smartphone instead of swiping a card. Out of the 270 million active debit cardholders, 130 million cards will be immediately eligible to avail this opportunity while the rest will have to wait till advanced technologies settle in to enable them as well. The replacement of the rest is already going on and is expected to cover all by the month of December.
Samsung Pay is active through its magnetic secure transmission (MST) across 2.5 million point-on- scale terminals (PoS). Besides being active on cards, Samsung Pay also supports United Payments Interface along with mobile wallet through this app itself.
