A few days ago, we communicated about Samsung phones receiving the December Security Patch. Last week, Samsung Galaxy S6 received the update and now, three other models, Samsung Galaxy S8, Galaxy S8+, and Note 5. These Samsung devices are the latest to receive the December security update from both Samsung and Android.
The update will have build numbers G950NKSU1AQL3 (for Galaxy S8) and G955NKSU1AQL3 (for Galaxy S8+). The update fixes, 10 issues in Samsung’s software, and 11 critical problems in Android. Thus, we would highly recommend installing this 130 MB security update to protect your Samsung device.
To download the update manually, Open the Settings, check for “System updates”, then tap on “Download updates manually”. If you have it set to ‘download updates automatically’, you will get a notification when the December security update has been downloaded to your device. To just have to hit “Install” on the notification.
Moreover, Galaxy Note 5 is also getting an update. This will increase the performance by fixing bugs. Besides this, the first carrier to issue the security update to the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+, is T-Mobile. If you own one of these devices through this carrier, you should have had access to the update since yesterday.
Hopefully, other Samsung devices like the Galaxy Note 8, Galaxy S7, and other models will get the December update soon. However, the Android fans are waiting for Android 8.0 Oreo in their smartphones. But, for now, they will have to settle with this standard maintenance update or install the Oreo beta for the time being.
