The Reliance Jio Phone was launched by the company in the month of July this year and the pre-orders began in August. The company had just recently started delivering the phone to its customers but now there is a new controversy surrounding the phone. As per a report published online, a Reliance JioPhone caught fire in Jammu and Kashmir.
As per the images online, the back panel and the battery of the phone have melted due to the explosion but the front panel seems to look intact. Along with the phone, the charger of the phone has also exploded. When contacted, a Reliance Retail spokesperson said that the Jio Phones are manufactured as per global standards and each device has gone through a quality control process. The company has received the information about this issue and the initial investigation shows that the damage has been caused intentionally.
The spokesperson further said that the incident came to the fore at perfect time to sabotage the brand name. However, right action will be taken soon based on further investigation. The battery power of the Jio phone is of 2000 mAh which is bigger when compared to the other feature phone in the market.
Other brands like Samsung, Xiaomi and Apple have already been in the news for their handsets catching fire. The latest report was about the Samsung Galaxy J7 catching fire on a flight. There were several cases reported last year about Samsung Galaxy Note 7 where the users complained that their handset had caught fire and smoke. The Galaxy Note 7 was banned on airlines globally and was later recalled by the company from all the market. Besides, there was a similar incident reported last year where a Reliance Lyf device had burst into flames. The user of the phone, Tanvir Sadiq had even posted the images of the phone after the explosion on Twitter.
