It looks like the upcoming Redmi Note 5 is going to be the first device to debut the 5G chip by Qualcomm. The latter has already moved a step closer to its next big leap in network connectivity by introducing the next generation connectivity to regular mobile phones and the recent leaks has already covered the Redmi Note 5 handsets getting powered by the chipset.
According to a recent post on popular Chinese micro blogging site Weibo, a trusted tipster has leaked that the Qualcomm 636 chipset is going to debut in a future Redmi device.
In the initial days of the month, alleged images of the Xiaomi Redmi 5 devices had been leaked online. Based on these leaks, the device is being expected to be equipped by a dual panel of rear cameras set in a vertical arrangement along with a fingerprint sensor placed right below the cameras. Some leaks have also claimed that the upcoming Redmi device is being expected to come with an aspect ratio of 18:9.
Qualcomm has made an announcement that the Company has already engineered an X50 5G modem chipset for mobile phones. Besides, Qualcomm has announced another new mainstream processor chipsets for mid-range phones. This processor is called the Snapdragon 636 which is being expected to power the upcoming Redmi Note 6 devices.
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 processor is expected to get launched by the next year. The Company has also announced that the future smartphones are going to get equipped by this next generation chipset.
Cristiano Amon, executive vice president at Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. and president, QCT has mentioned in his statement, “Achieving the world’s first announced 5G data connection with the Snapdragon X50 5G modem chipset on 28GHz mmWave spectrum is truly a testament to Qualcomm Technologies’ leadership in 5G and extensive expertise in mobile connectivity”. He further added, “This major milestone and our 5G smartphone reference design showcase how Qualcomm Technologies is driving 5G NR in mobile devices to enhance mobile broadband experiences for consumers around the around.”
The new Qualcomm 636 SoC throws light on the ability of the devices powered by the same to support ultra wide FHD+ (1080 * 2160) displays along with Assertive Display for improved visibility in non-ideal lighting probably referring to the low light visibility.
Qualcomm has also talked about its future plans regarding its collaboration with Novatel Wireless on 5G New Radio millimetre wave technology development. Also, the Company is going to team up the 3GPP for the over the air field trials that is based on the 5G New Radio Release with 15 specifications for the upcoming 5G development projects of the Company.
