The new Pixel 2 comes with the amazing Google Lens that adds up to the Android phone’s camera and photo roll. And now it seems that this feature may be extended to the original Pixel and Pixel XL devices by the company. Google Lens was released in the Google I/O developers conference that happened this year and Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL devices were the first to get this new feature. The Google Lens basically uses the uses the Phone’s camera vision to know what is in the photos, videos and the world around while getting the contextual actions like Wikipedia entries, customer reviews and Maps results. This feature is also available in the Google Photos app.
It now seems that the original Google Pixel handsets owners will not have to wait for a long time to get Google Lens. Few users have said that the company has began rolling out the Google Lens to the original Pixel and Pixel XL devices that have the most recent Google Photos app. This feature works when the app is opened as an opt-in preview. The pop up that appears on the screen for Google Lens contains options like copy text document, learn about landmarks and look up products.
So if you get this pop up flashing on your original Google Pixel screen then just tap on the ‘Get Started’ option on the right bottom side. This will replace the info button seen while reviewing he pictures with a Google Lens button. The info button will shift to the menu at the top right.
It is said that this feature functions somewhat in the same way as it functions in the Pixel 2 and pixel XL devices. The later update will come with the option of using Google Lens while taking a photo. Make sure that you have downloaded the latest 3.7.171902479 version of Google Photos in your pixel device in order to get this update.
It is also said that all the upcoming Android devices will come with the Google Lens feature but right now it is just a Pixel exclusive feature.
