OPPO launched a new smartphone, OPPO A83 in China today. The smartphone is a successor model of previously launched A75 and A75s. The smartphone will be available in Champagne and Black color variants, and will cost Rs 13,800 approximately. The pre-order of the smartphone has already started and the phone will hit the markets from December 29. However, Oppo is yet to announce the product in India.
Looking at the specifications of Oppo A83. The main feature of this handset is its 5.7-inch display with an aspect ratio of 18:9. Additionally, the LCD screen runs at HD+ resolution of 720×1440 pixels. Besides this, Oppo is using a 128 unique feature point facial recognition technology on the A83. The company claims that the Face Unlock feature can unlock the smartphone within 0.18 seconds. Unlike other manufacturers, Oppo is not moving the fingerprint scanner at the back. Rather, they are incorporating the Facial Recognition feature.
Moreover, the smartphone packs an octa-core 2.5GHz SoC. There is no word on whether it is a MediaTek or Qualcomm chipset. It is paired with 4GB of RAM, and 32GB built-in storage. There is provision of a microSD card slot for further expansion to up to 256GB. On the software front, the smartphone runs Android 7.1 Nougat OS with Color OS 3.2 on top.
On the optics aspect, the smartphone sports a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, and an 8-megapixel front-facing camera for selfies, video calling and Face Unlock feature. In terms of connectivity, there is a dual-SIM card slot, 4G LTE and VoLTE, Bluetooth, GPS and Wi-Fi. To power the device, a 3,090mAh battery is in the package though it does not support fast charging.
