Consistent in keeping the promise to provide regular updates to its devices, HMD owned Nokia is now rolling out the latest Android Oreo for its device, Nokia 5 and Nokia 6. The company has already rolled out the beta updates for these devices last year. The HMD Global Chief Product Officer Juho Sarvikas took Twitter to announce the update for Nokia 6 and Nokia 5 on Tuesday. The tweet reads, “Sweeter and Smoother. The #Nokia5 and #Nokia6 are officially joining the #AndroidOreo family.”
The update is bundled with Android Oreo features such as Picture-in-picture, Notification dots, Google Play Protect security scans, Faster boot up time, Autofill, and Google January 1 security patch. It also brings refreshed settings UI, enhanced power saving, and background activity manager and improves the low light image quality of the device. The update is rolling out via OTA and the users can check for the update by going to Settings -> System -> Check for Update. For Nokia 6, the update is 1,659MB in size.
Recalling the specifications of these devices, the Nokia 5 features a 5.2-inch HD (720×1280 pixels) display. Under the hood, it has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 SoC which is paired with 2/ 3GB of RAM and sports 16GB of inbuilt storage. The smartphone is housed by a 3000mAh battery.
Coming to Nokia 6, the device features a 5.5-inch full-HD (1080×1920 pixels) IPS display. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 SoC which is coupled with 3GB of RAM and 32GB inbuilt storage. The device is powered by a 3000mAh battery under the hood.
