How to register/change mobile number in SBI account

A Internet Banking user have an ATM debit card can easily change his/her mobile number without even visiting the branch.

How to register mobile number in SBI account step by step process:

1.) Login to your Online SBI account (https://retail.onlinesbi.com/retail/login.htm) through your homepage

2.) Go to your ‘Profile’ tab.

3.) Click on the ‘Personal Details’ link.

4.) Enter your profile password set by yourself

5.) Now display Name, Email ID and mobile number registered in SBI will be displayed on your screen.

6.) Click on hyper link ‘Change Mobile Number-Domestic only (Through OTP/ATM/Contact Centre)’ appearing on your screen.

7.) A new screen with ‘Personal Details-Mobile Number Update’ along with three tabs ‘Create Request’, ‘Cancel Request’ and ‘Status’ will appear.

8.) Input your ‘new mobile number’.

9.) Re-input your ‘new mobile number’.

10.) Now click on the ‘Submit’ button.

11.) A pop-up message mentioning ‘Verify and confirm your mobile number xxxxxxxxxx’ will appear on your screen.

12.) Click on ‘Ok’ to proceed further.

13.) A new screen with the following three different modes for approval of change of mobile number will be displayed on your screen;

A.) By OTP on both the Mobile Numbers

B.) IRATA : Internet Banking Request Approval through your ATM

C.) Also Approval through Contact Centre

(A) Using OTP.

1.) Click on the radio button against the option ‘By OTP on both the Mobile Number’.

2.) Click on the ‘Proceed’ button.

3.) Now select the account by clicking the radio button, for of which you have the debit card.

4.) Now again click on ‘Proceed’ button.

5.) In the next screen the ATM cards associated with respective selected account will be displayed.

6.) Select your ATM card and than click on ‘Proceed’ button.

7.) For the next screen, State Bank of India’s Payment Gateway will be displayed on the screen.

8.) Enter your card details as follows(card number, validity, Cardholder’s Name, PIN and characters visible in the box).

9.) Click on the ‘Submit’ button.

10.) Verify this information and Click on the ‘Pay’ button.

11.) On successful validation, SBI internet banking system will send OTP along with reference number on your old along with your new mobile number.

12.)  You need to send SMS from BOTH (old and new) mobile numbers in the format as shown ACTIVATE <8 digit OTP value> <13 digit reference number> to 567676 within 4 hours. e.g. ACTIVATE 12345678 UN12051500123

13.) Upon successfully validating of the OTP value and reference number, the new mobile number input by you will be copied in Internet Banking, CBS and ATM. A successful message will also be displayed to customer on his/her mobile number.

(B) IRATA :

1.) Click on the button against the option ‘IRATA : Internet Banking Request Approval through ATM’.

2.) Now you have to click on ‘Proceed’ button.

3.) Select the next account by clicking on the radio button, for which you possess the debit card.

4.) Click ‘Proceed’ button.

5.) In the next screen the ATM cards (Active and Inactive) associated with the selected account will be displayed.

6.) Click again on ‘Proceed’ button.

7.) As earlier in the next screen, State Bank of India’s Payment Gateway will again be displayed.

8.) Enter the various card details like (validity, card number, Cardholder’s Name, PIN and characters visible in the box).

9.) Click again on ‘Submit’ button.

10.) Verify and Click on the ‘Pay’ button.

11.) On successful validation, the following message will be displayed on your screen;“Thanks for registering mobile number with us. The status of your request will be pending. Kindly complete the entire registration process according to the option selected by you.You can click here to see the guidelines for process completion.”

12.) A SMS containing following “Reference No. for Change/Update mobile number is : UNXXXXXXXXXXX and also your IRATA reference number is XXXXXXXXXX” will be sent by Internet Banking system on your new mobile number.

13.) Please also do visit any State Bank Group ATM, swipe your card, and select the ‘Services’ tab and input your PIN.

14.) Select ‘Others’ tab on the ATM screen and choose your ‘Internet Banking Request Approval’ option.

15.) Input the 10-digit reference number(new mobile number) for approval of the request.

16.) On successful completion of this process, your request (change of mobile number) will be fulfilled.

17.) Upon successful validation of the OTP value and reference number, the new mobile number inputted will be updated in Internet Banking, CBS and ATM. A successful message in this regard will also be displayed to the following customer on his mobile number. Now you can check your SBI Balance Enquiry Online. Let’s move upon our next method.

(C) Contact Center :-

1.) Click on the radio button against the option ‘Approval through Contact Center’

Repeat the entire process from above up to step 10

11.) Than in the next step on successful validation, this message will be displayed to the customer on the screen; “Thanks for registering mobile number with SBI. The status of your request will be pending. Kindly complete the registration process according to the option select by you. Click here to see the guidelines for entire process completion.”

12.) A SMS containing the following “Reference No. for Change/Update mobile number is : UNYYYYYYYYYY” will be sent by INB system on the new mobile number.

13.) Bank’s Spoke person will call you within next 3 working days on your new mobile number.

14.) Kindly do ask for the reference number from the Contact Center person before sharing your personal details.

15.) Also, do not share reference number with anyone.

16.) After that the contact Center will verify your identity over the call by asking certain information.

17.) On successful verification of information, the new mobile number given by you will be copied in Internet Banking, CBS and ATM. A successful message in this regard will also be sent to you on your new mobile number.
