The above image is of the first mmWave 5G smartphone reference design by Qualcomm. This is not the final unit and is just a reference design. This smartphone was designed by Qualcomm to test and optimize the company’s first mmWave 5G performance. In the image, one can see that the 5G device sports a dual rear camera setup along with a Qualcomm Snapdragon logo just near the bottom of back side. Hanna has also mentioned that the device will also support 2G/3G/4G/5G in the conversation thread that follows his tweet.

This announcement was made by the executive Vice President of Qualcomm Technologies, Cristiano Amon during the 2017 Qualcomm 4G/5G Summit.

In the trial, the Qualcomm Snapdragon X50 5G modem chipset that was released last year, successfully delivered gigabit speeds and a data connection in the 28GHz millimetre Wave radio frequency band. A speed of up to 1GBps was achieved by the company using the 5G network. But Qualcomm believes that a speed of up to 5GBps will be achieved once the 5G network is properly deployed.
