BSNL Might Launch Its 4G Services by December 2017

With almost all the major telecom operators having already launched their 4G services, there is a question everybody still has! When will BSNL launch its 4G services. The state-owned telecom operator is yet to launch its own 4G service and is right now offering only 3G data services to its customers.

Earlier it was scheduled to launch the 4G services in 2014 but it didn’t fare that well. And now in 2017 finally planning has been empathized to launch the services by December 2017. These services will be majorly rolled out in Kerala headquarters and to it’s subsequent cities and towns. Then further to the major cities across India.


Talking to the press BSNL head said the following words. ‘Everything has been in plan to launch the 4G services in India and installation will be done by the end of September 2017’. Earlier this year, this service was supposed to be launched in Kozhikode and Thiruvananthapuram around March. But due to tender problems, it got delayed.

Further, it has been said that more than 2200 new sites will be developed in one year around Kerala and it’s headquarters. Moreover, 1100 3G sites will be upgraded and new 300 2G sites will be installed. Along with the 4G services BSNL is also planning to launch WiFi hotspots, around 311 different locations in India.

In present scenario, 136 exchanges have been migrated to NGN, and the remaining 806 are proposed for migration. Also, it is​ to be said that 71 percent of Kerala circle now has BSNL 3G coverage, further it is expected to reach 90 percent by the end of 2017.
