Xiaomi is rolling out Android 8.0 Oreo update for the Xiaomi Mi 6 which was launched earlier. The new update is rolling out with version number 8.1.11 and for those users only who have MIUI 9 Global ROM v7.12.14 version on their device. The users will receive the OTA notification for the same on their device. Although this is only a global beta update so might be accompanied by some bugs and problems. The zip file is also provided for the users who can’t wait for the update and want to update their device manually.
The company is looking for some beta testers for this update. The company has not given a word about when it will roll out the stable Android Oreo version for this as well as other devices.
There are many features which come with the update like the Contacts application is now getting some makeover along with the redesigning of several other Xiaomi apps. Many bugs have also been fixed along with some improvements.
The device features a 5.15-inch FHD screen having 1080p display quality which is powered by a 64 bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 octa-core processor clocking at 2.45GHz clock speed. The processor is paired with Adreno 540 GPU. The device comes with 4GB of RAM and sports 64 GB of Internal storage.
The device runs Android Nougat 7.1.1 along with the company’s MIUI 8. For the photography, Mi 6 flaunts dual cameras set up on the rear side with 12MP +12MP configuration which also come with the features like wide angle lens and image stabilization feature. On the front panel, the device comes with an 8MP front camera. The device is juiced up by a 3350mAh battery. There is a fingerprint sensor on the front of the device.
