Sony is rolling out Android 7.1.1 Nougat update for some of its devices Xperia Z5, Xperia Z3+, Xperia Z4 Tablet this week. These phones were released sometime between May 2015 and September 2015. Originally these phones and tablets came with Android 6 Marshmallow and then got updated to Nougat 7.0 version this February. Android 7.1.1 Nougat update might be the last update, to be received by these two-year-old devices.Last week Sony updated its devices Xperia X and Xperia X Compact to Android Nougat 7.1.1 firmware.

Google has released Android 7.1.1 Nougat seven months ago. It is a big question that why the tech giant Sony took so long to roll out this update for these devices. But now as the update is available, the users are very happy. The build number now goes from 32.3.A.2.33 to version 32.4.A.0.160. The high point of the update is that it includes the latest security patch which was released on 1 June 2017. The update weighs around 485 MB and may vary from device to device. The update is rolling out in batches to avoid any bug problem. The new update has got some new features which include Xperia Assist, more emoji, and app shortcuts. No more software update information is available yet.

The update is available via OTA and will be available to all the users soon. As it is coming out in batches, it might take some time to reach all the users. The notification will pop-out for the update. In case you don’t get the notification, you can check manually by heading to the Settings > About phone menu. It is also predicted that Sony will update more of its devices.
