Airtel and Idea Want Users Identity Re-verification Using Aadhar Card

Airtel and Idea both are prominent names in Indian Telecom market. Let us first give you a brief glimpse of both these corporations.

On one hand, Bharti Airtel Limited is an Indian global telecommunications services company. It is based in New Delhi, India and operates in 18 countries across South Asia and Africa.  It is also the largest mobile network operator in India and the third largest in the world with 400 million subscribers.

On the other hand, Idea Cellular is an Indian mobile network operator. Based in Mumbai, Maharashtra, Idea is also a pan-India integrated GSM operator offering 2G, 3G and 4G mobile services. It is India’s third largest mobile operator by subscriber base.

A few months back, Government of India has asked all the telecom operators to register id details of all the mobile users and consumers. The government has released this rule with a motive to develop transparency in the telecom market and reduce unwanted criminal activities.

After the release of the above mentioned rule, Airtel and Idea have been the foremost in the queue of the telecom operators to follow these orders. They have demanded the re-verification of all their consumers through Aadhaar card.

This verification has to be finished by all the telecom operators for all the subscribers by or before 6th February,2018.

According to 91mobiles, Idea and Airtel have started reaching out to retailers to start Aadhaar-based e-KYC process. It also further warns that if the required verification is not complete, users’ numbers will be disconnected.

Bharti Airtel, which is India’s largest telecom operator, in a message said, “Link your Aadhaar card to you number now to stay active! As per the Government of India, this is mandatory to enjoy continued services”.

Airtel and Idea Re-verification Process :

Following steps will ensure E-KYC compliance :

Visit the nearest Idea center & provide your mobile number and Aadhar card number. Idea or Airtel store executive will then provide a four-digit verification code on your mobile number from the re-verification application. Subscriber has to provide the verification code to Idea or Airtel store executive & provide his/her bio-metric.

After 24 hours you will receive a confirmation SMS, reply Y to complete the EKYC process.

Get your number re-verified before the due date !
