TRAI(Telecom Regulatory Authority of India) has recently recommended to introduce Aadhar based eKYC for internet as well as broadband connections as compared to mobile phones.
The important here to be noted is that this would make the authentication process much fasted. Along with this it is also reliable and also leads to savings in the industry.
A TRAI statement recently goes as follows, “The authority recommends to lay an appropriate format for verification of all the subscribers availing internet and broadband services. And also for the adoption of Aadhar based eKYC which will be similar to mobile connections and for their verification.”
Further, TRAI has also received a representation from the Internet Service Providers Association of India (ISPAI) to extend their Aadhaar-based eKYC authentication to ISPs for broadband and internet connections also, as is seen currently with the case with mobile connections.
“ISPAI has stated in their letter that using such service for authentication of customers for broadband as well as internet connections will be faster and much authentic resulting in time saving as well as cost saving,” TRAI statement also added.
While, the government has earlier prescribed CAF for verification of new mobile connections using only Aadhaar based eKYC services and also for re-verification of existing subscribers, TRAI noted that “right now this requirement has not been prescribed for the customers of internet and broadband as well as fixed line”.
From the above it can be noted as to what the government is planning to bring in the upcoming years and also how easier and safer and faster it can be.
